Although Republican candidate Alex McVeagh and Democratic candidate Kisha Cheeks come from different backgrounds, they share similar visions of an impartial, child-centered approach to a Hamilton County Circuit Court judge seat.
Cheeks and McVeagh are on the ballot to replace former Circuit Court Judge Marie Williams, who stepped down from the bench six years before her term was set to expire.
On Wednesday morning at a Friends of Hixson event, both candidates spoke about what they hope to accomplish as a Circuit Court judge ahead of the general election.
State Rep. Greg Martin, R-Hamilton County, Sen. Bo Watson, R-Hixson, and Hamilton County Republican Party Chair Mark Harrison, along with a couple dozen members of the public, were in attendance; the community meeting was at Clear Creek Church of Christ and sponsored by Rep. Patsy Hazlewood, R-Signal Mountain.
