Tennessee is now at 18 football commitments for the 2025 signing cycle after receiving a nonbinding pledge Saturday afternoon from four-star linebacker Christian Gass of Eastside High School in Covington, Georgia.

The 6-foot-3, 215-pound Gass took recent visits to Florida, Southern California, Georgia, Tennessee and Kentucky before selecting the Volunteers over the Bulldogs and Trojans. Gass is the No. 22 linebacker nationally on the 247Sports.com composite rankings and the No. 204 overall recruit.

During his trips to Knoxville and other locales, Gass expressed the desire to work at linebacker and as an edge rusher. As an Eastside senior, he amassed 68 tackles, 11 tackles for loss, two sacks and one forced fumble.

“I feel like I can do both, but I have to show them I can do both,” Gass told 247Sports. “High school and college are two different things, so I’ve got to go out there and show them in practices and stuff that I can do both so I can play both.”

Tennessee vaulted to ninth in the 247Sports team standings after the Gass commitment, with the Vols trailing a top eight of Ohio State, Alabama, Georgia, LSU, Oregon, Notre Dame, Texas A&M and Oklahoma.
