Chattanooga’s first AC Hotel by Marriott is planned for a high-profile corner in downtown’s Southside as the area sees an ongoing supply of new building projects.

The five-story, $40 million hotel is slated for Broad and Main streets, with the second level holding parking, said Brian Hennessy, director of investments for the Chattanooga-based Vision Hospitality Group.

“We feel now is the right time to go ahead and get going,” Hennessy said in a phone call about the 135-room hotel.

Vision is expected to go before the Chattanooga downtown zoning committee Thursday to seek approval for the fifth story for the hotel and a drop-off area for guests on Main Street.
