The proposed vast reuse of the former Eureka Foundry site on downtown Chattanooga’s Southside is expected to reach more than $100 million, a developer said, though two planned 20-story towers have drawn concerns.

Planners agreed this week to postpone for a month a vote on rezoning the 9-acre tract to give officials and the developer more time to work through worries about the pair of high-rise buildings slated to sit near U.S. Highway 27.

While Chattanooga developer Chris Curtis said he was OK with the delay, he added in an interview he still likes the towers for the project.

He said the entire parcel between U.S. 27 and Reggie White Boulevard could hold offices, residences, hotel space, retail, parking garages, and food and beverage offerings.
