A Red Bank firefighter accused of assaulting his wife and parents-in-law with a gun had his charges bound over Monday to a Hamilton County grand jury without a hearing.
Tyler Traub, 29, is facing three counts of aggravated assault and one count of reckless endangerment, according to the General Sessions court website.
Traub was suspended without pay last month in light of the criminal charges, but the situation is being assessed, Red Bank City Manager Martin Granum said by email.
“We are evaluating what continuing impact this most recent development has on our Fire Department’s mission to protect lives, property and the environment,” Granum said.
The city intends to make an announcement about Traub’s status with the department once the evaluation is complete, Granum said.
Traub was also ordered to have no contact with the alleged victims except during child exchanges, the court website shows.
His charges stem from a series of events on May 11.

Traub is accused of wrapping his hands around his wife’s throat and choking her at their Soddy-Daisy home, an affidavit in the case states.
She allegedly escaped and called her mother.
A fight broke out on the porch once her family arrived, and Traub allegedly starting strangling her father, the affidavit states, adding that her father pulled out a pistol and fired two shots in the air.
The men wrestled over the gun, so Traub’s wife and her mother jumped on them to try to break them apart, the affidavit states.
Traub’s wife eventually got hold of the pistol and starting hitting Traub over the head with it, the document states.
Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office deputies found a handgun covered in what was believed to be blood lying a few feet from where the group was fighting, the affidavit states, adding that the entire family was transported to Erlanger hospital for medical treatment.
Traub’s bond was set at $36,000, and he is no longer in custody, according to the jail’s website.
