Highway 153 crash injures two on Hamilton County school bus

A school bus driver and bus attendant were taken to a hospital after a multicar crash on Highway 153 in Chattanooga, Hamilton County Schools officials said.

A six-car collision closed a portion of the highway Monday morning near the access road by Chickamauga Dam, according to a Tennessee Department of Transportation spokesperson.

Though a Hamilton County school bus was involved in the crash, no students were on the bus at the time, district spokesperson Steve Doremus said by phone. The severity of the injuries for the bus driver and attendant is unknown.

Cars were redirected onto the shoulder, spokesperson Rae Anne Bradley said in a social media post, causing delays on the route. Traffic had cleared up by midday, according to highway officials.
