Vote for Lennon, not for extremism and more letters to the editors

Vote for Lennon, not for extremism

In a July interview, Michele Reneau said, “There is no reason to compromise in a supermajority. Every Democrat could stay home, and we could still pass every bill we wanted to pass.”

Whoa. That attitude discounts every moderate Republican, Democrat and independent voter in our district.

Republican President Dwight Eisenhower said, “Things are not all black and white. There have to be compromises. The middle of the road is all the usable surface. The extremes, right and left, are in the gutters.”

There is strength and security in the middle of the road. Why does “conservative” now mean driving us all into the gutter?

We’re tired of extremism. We’re tired of seeing enemies where neighbors live. We all deserve peace.

We need someone who cares about all of us, and that’s Kathy Lennon. She has years of experience working with and representing others from all backgrounds. Kathy has experience creating policies that serve the whole, regardless of political party. She knows we can learn from one another if we take the time to listen. Kathy Lennon is the sensible choice for District 27.

Diebold backs what we need for Walden

As a citizen of Walden, I want competition for groceries. The price of meat at Pruett’s would make a meat lover a vegetarian. Such prices are the reason I travel off the mountain to get groceries.

A beautiful “town center,” which Lou Diebold supports, would enhance our township and also bring in $400,000 dollars in new tax revenue.

We could then have snow removal on our street. They not only have snow removal but “in ground reflectors on the Brow.” His opponent brags that she was responsible for that. What about our street? We don’t get snow removal.

Lastly, I was offended that Mr. Ziebold’s integrity was attacked by his opponent, Lizzy Schmidt. I know Mr. Ziebold would never lie about her!

I am voting for Lou Ziebold who cares about my needs.

Supporting Gorman, protecting children

There are many reasons to vote for the local Democratic candidates in this year’s election.

Guns are the leading cause of deaths of children. We should keep our children as protected as we can. We need safe storage laws, background checks, a red flag law, and a permit requirement, including gun-safety training. If you own a gun, you are responsible for its safety.

We need people whose skills and talents will add to the serious business of running our state thoughtfully and with purpose.

Please consider voting early Oct. 16-31, Monday-Friday: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at:

› Election Commission, 700 River Terminal Road

› Chris L. Ramsey Sr. Community Center, 1010 N. Moore Road

› Chestnut Hall at The Commons, 4750 Swinyar Drive

› Hixson Community Center, 5401 School Drive

› Highway 58 Volunteer Fire Training Center, 9108 Snow Hill Road

› Soddy Daisy Community Center, 190 Depot St.

We don’t need bigger government; we need better government. Please vote for Allison Gorman for state House District 26. Your vote will be appreciated.
