The developers of a 186-unit residential project off Fairview Road will take time to hear concerns from neighbors before bringing the proposal back to planners for approval.

The Chattanooga-Hamilton County Regional Planning Commission voted Monday to defer action on the development for 60 days to enable the applicants to meet with community members.

The new neighborhood would sit on a 66-acre parcel around 6560 Fairview Road in Hixson and would include a mixture of 102 condominiums and 84 townhomes. As is, the zoning for the property allows a higher housing density than developers are proposing for the project.

The development would also have an 8,000-square-foot community building with a gym and meeting space. There would be a full pool and spa and outdoor pickleball, tennis and possibly basketball courts. It would include about 24 acres of green space with walking trails.
