A student at Ivy Academy was arrested Wednesday after apparently making threats to the Chattanooga School for the Arts and Sciences, according to the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office.
An administrator notified a school deputy at Arts and Sciences of a group text with students and a former student that involved a threat to CSAS, the sheriff’s office said in a news release.
The former student, now at Ivy Academy, had reportedly shared several images of schematics for an explosive device and images of armor-piercing bullets. The student also asked for help in getting a diagram or map of Arts and Sciences, according to the release.
School deputies interviewed the student at Ivy Academy, where the student confessed to making the threat, the release said.
The student was arrested and taken to the Hamilton County Juvenile Detention Center.
There is no threat to either school, according to the sheriff’s office.
Since school started Aug. 7, at least 10 Hamilton County students have been arrested on charges of making threats of mass violence.
