In his first season as the head coach of Soddy Daisy’s football program, Josh Owensby and his staff have tried to deliver a consistent message to their players that’s more about potential than perfection.

“We have preached get to November,” Owensby said.

With the regular season more than halfway over and October just days away, it’s clear the revival is in full swing.

For the first time since 2008, the Trojans are off to a 5-1 start, and they have averaged more than 260 rushing yards per game while holding three opposing offenses to three points or less.

Their overpowering offensive line — which averages 6-foot-2, 275 pounds — can dominate time of possession and wear defenses down over four quarters, and with what Owensby called a “sleeper defense” on their side, the Trojans are built for playoff football.
