Trail restoration work will begin Monday at Stringer’s Ridge, following damage caused by recent wildfires, the city said in a news release.
Four trails — Double J, Strut, Alta Vista and Cherokee — will have segments closed throughout the restoration work, the release said. These sections sustained damage from fire and subsequent firefighting efforts, and restoration will include “stabilizing trail surfaces, clearing debris, mitigating erosion and ensuring long-term safety for all trail users,” the release said.
There will be signage to indicate trail closures. Because the restoration work requires heavy machinery and may expose unstable terrain, parkgoers should not enter closed areas, the release said.
The work is expected to last about two weeks, the release said. Announcements will be shared via the social media of Chattanooga Parks and Outdoors, the city of Red Bank and Sorba Chattanooga.
