With a corporate footprint mainly in the South, Huddle House restaurants have been around since the 1960s.

The “any meal, any time” motto is a reflection of the restaurant’s 24/7 operating hours (at some locations) and an extensive menu that ranges from omelets to prime rib.

The first mention of the chain in Chattanooga’s newspapers was in 1968 when “help wanted” ads began appearing. One ad, published May 19, 1968, put out a call for: “Waitresses and grill men. Top pay, good working conditions. No experience necessary.”

Today, there are three remaining Huddle House restaurants in the area: on Bush Johnson Avenue in Chickamauga, on Brainerd Road and on Reco Drive in Soddy-Daisy. In the 1960s, there were also locations on Highway 58, Dayton Boulevard and on Lafayette Road in Fort Oglethorpe.
