An East Ridge company that provides respite and placement care services for adults is facing a state investigation over unpaid wages, and one former employee was arrested for harassment while she tried to get her final paycheck.
Caring Steps Solution provides home-based assistance and supervision to older adults and people with disabilities, including companionship, personal hygiene, housekeeping and medication reminders, according to its website.
The company is under investigation by the state for a wage complaint. The Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development has received two complaints about Caring Steps, said department spokesperson Chris Cannon. One of the complaints was referred to the U.S. Department of Labor because it fell outside state jurisdiction, and the state is investigating the other, he said.
“The department does not release information regarding wage complaints until the investigation is complete and closed,” Cannon said by email.
