Three of eight publicly traded companies based in the Chattanooga area reported rising share prices across 2025, as the broader stock market pulled off gains despite added uncertainty from President Donald Trump’s tariffs and fears of an artificial intelligence bubble.
Two of the companies — Astec Industries and CBL & Associates Properties — closed the year with double-digit gains. Unum, the only Fortune 500 company headquartered in Chattanooga, closed with a more modest 6% gain for the year after rising 62% in 2024.
Altogether, the longstanding seven Chattanooga area companies traded on the stock market closed with more than $600 million of market value lost. An eighth company, Novonix, moved its headquarters to Chattanooga midway through the year.
