On Thursday, Chattanoogans joined protests, seen throughout the country, against Elon Musk’s lawless takeover of various agencies within the federal government.
Musk, who donated more than $250 million to President Donald Trump’s re-election campaign, was appointed head of the Department of Government Efficiency, or DOGE, following the election. We must note that this entity named after a years-old internet meme of a dog is not actually a government department and has no real legal authority.
But Musk, an unelected billionaire, has used DOGE to dismantle agencies within the federal government with no regard for the Constitution or the rule of law.
Most notorious thus far, is the gutting of the U.S. Agency for International Development, or USAID, whose funding is mandated by Congress.
USAID, which provides aid to some of the poorest people across the globe, has unlawfully been decimated by Musk, the world’s richest person.
