Hamilton County is taking cues from Elon Musk in a bid to curb waste in local government.

“DOGE and the efforts of @elonmusk to make the federal government more efficient and accountable have the overwhelming support of the people of Hamilton County,” County Mayor Weston Wamp said in a social media post Monday. “In fact, we have already launched a DOGE-inspired task force to eliminate waste in Hamilton County Government.”

The task force was news to some members of the county commission. Several told the Chattanooga Times Free Press that they first heard of the proposal through the social media post.
