A proposal for a high-rise near the Tennessee Aquarium was officially withdrawn before it could go to the Chattanooga City Council after the plan met stiff opposition from neighbors and officials.

Nash Bowen, chief executive of the firm Kronos Capital, said in a letter that intentions are to meet again with the neighborhood and “resubmit if and when we are able to propose a plan that both is economically feasible and has the city’s full support.”

“Much of our business is in real estate, and it is a dream of mine to dedicate our resources to having some portion of positive impact on this city,” he said in the letter to the city attorney, neighbors and others.

On Monday, a Chattanooga planning panel denied the request to rezone 200 Market St. for a proposed 12-story building holding commercial and residential space.
