If history repeats itself, the Chattanooga area will be on top of the Tennessee high school wrestling world again this weekend.

The TSSAA postseason wraps up Friday and Saturday in Franklin at the Williamson County Agricultural Expo Park, which will host the state traditional tournaments for girls across all classifications and boys’ programs in the two classes for public schools (A and AA). In addition to determining individual champions in 40 weight classes — 14 each in A and AA, plus 12 for girls — three team titles will be on the line.

After leaving Franklin earlier this month with state duals championships, the Cleveland boys’ and girls’ programs and Soddy Daisy’s boys enter as heavy traditional title favorites a week after Baylor won the Division II traditional title to complete a state championship sweep.

In a streak that began in 2018, Cleveland’s boys have yet to lose a state championship under head coach Joey Knox. The Blue Raiders are seeking their eighth straight traditional title, having already won their eighth consecutive duals crown. The Class AA program looks as strong as ever, too, with 11 of its 12 state qualifiers advancing to Franklin as sectional champions.

Class A’s Soddy Daisy will be the only other team with a dozen qualifiers in Franklin, where the Trojans will try to hold off state duals-runner up Signal Mountain, which has eight qualifiers. The Trojans are seeking their second straight state championship sweep of duals and traditional competition.

Meanwhile, the Cleveland Lady Blue Raiders lead their state traditional field with nine qualifiers, while state duals runner-up Clarksville and third-place finisher West Creek have eight apiece. With seven sectional champions, Cleveland is poised for its third straight sweep of the girls’ state championships.

Here’s a list of area wrestlers who are set to compete in Franklin, with weight class and win-loss record (if available) in parentheses and sectional champions in bold.
