Chattanooga-based BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee may put its huge Cameron Hill headquarters up for sale this year, the insurer said.
But a spokesperson for the company that employs about 4,000 in Chattanooga said it’s committed to maintaining a presence in or near downtown.
BlueCross has a few hundred employees at its headquarters each day — far fewer than before the pandemic — as it embraces remote work, Dalya Qualls White, senior vice president and chief communications officer, said Tuesday in an email.
“So, we may be putting the property on the market this year, and we anticipate a yearslong process to find the right buyer and find the right space for our needs as a remote-first employer,” White said in response to questions from the Chattanooga Times Free Press.
