Rock City will postpone a rezoning request in Walker County after neighbors raised concerns about plans for the property.

The organization was seeking to change an approximately 14-acre parcel near Highway 157 from residential to commercial, which would have allowed Rock City to complete a trail expansion, according to zoning documents. The Walker County Planning Commission was originally scheduled to take up the request during its meeting Thursday.

Pepper Raper, a spokesperson for the Lookout Mountain attraction, said the parcel is east of Lover’s Leap and has been owned by See Rock City Inc. and its predecessor organizations for decades.
