As people from across the nation flocked to Washington D.C. to witness the second inauguration of President Donald Trump, lawmakers from Tennessee and Georgia expressed their excitement for the new administration.
U.S. Rep. Chuck Fleischmann, R-Ooltewah, posted on social media from the event.
“President Trump is giving a strong, historic inaugural address,” Fleischmann said in a post. “America’s New Golden Age begins today!

“With President Trump back in office, we will immediately begin to secure our borders, deport criminal illegals, and end the scourge of illegal immigration,” he said in a later post.
Ahead of the inauguration, U.S. Sen. Marsha Blackburn, R-Tenn., released a statement condemning former President Joe Biden’s economic and border policy and said that his administration focused on woke diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives, instead of competence.

“America is so back,” Blackburn said in a social media post following Trump’s inauguration.
Blackburn said she is ready for mass deportations and that Trump will always put the country first, according to a social media post. She also called country singer Carrie Underwood, who sang at the ceremony, a national treasure.
“Today, President Trump will hit the ground running to make America safe, healthy, prosperous, and affordable again,” Blackburn said in a statement. “He will also restore our broken border, carry out the largest deportation operation in U.S. history, and put money back in the pockets of Americans across the country who are struggling to make ends meet.”
U.S. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Northwest Georgia, said she was excited to see Trump sworn in, according to a social media post.
While heading into the inauguration ceremonies, Greene said she did not think Democrats with seniority who voted to impeach Trump should be able to get front-row seats, she wrote in a social media post.
“We know exactly who the Democrats are. There is NO unity,” she said in a social media post. “President Trump was elected to enact his America First agenda. Get onboard or get out of the way!”
U.S. Sen. Bill Hagerty, R-Tenn., welcomed Trump back to the White House, according to a social media post.
“What a historic day for our nation,” Hagerty said in a social media post. “Republicans have a mandate from the American People and 47 will deliver.”
