Briggs Cherry saw no reason to delay his decision any longer.

During the Baylor School junior quarterback’s Tuesday visit to the University of Louisville, Cherry asked Cardinals head coach Jeff Brohm how many commitments the Atlantic Coast Conference program had for the 2026 signing class.

“Five,” Brohm answered.

To which Cherry replied: “Make it six, Coach.”

Cherry became the second Chattanooga-area football player in the 2026 signing class to announce a verbal commitment, joining Red Raiders teammate Gabe Osenda, a 6-foot-8, 320-pound offensive tackle who recently committed to Tennessee.
