Big Con conspirators wanted a civil war
There is some justice in the release of some Jan. 6 prisoners.
No, they were not “hostages.” They each had a normal American trial with the presentation of evidence and witnesses cross-examined by lawyers and prosecutors, a judge and a jury. Some were dismissed, some were found not guilty, but most were found guilty and sentenced according to their individual crimes.
But, the injustice is that their “Commander Trump,” who conned them into believing that somehow Joe Biden illegally stole the 2020 election and weaponized the whole justice system against Trump, who called his devoted followers to the Capitol on Jan. 6, which happened to be the day Vice President Pence was to ceremoniously confirm the electoral votes delivered by each state, was not with them in prison. Trump spent that morning firing up the crowd to go to the Capitol and fight like hell (“I’ll be with you”), or else they would lose their country.
All of Trump’s words were the lies of a Big Con. Trump’s conspirators have been in court after court, and made numerous accusations against innocent people, ruining lives on both sides. Many of his conspirators have been either sentenced or faced trials. Many of the Capitol attackers were con victims, believing in Trump, but they did break the law and actually fought against their country. A number of their leaders were just evil-minded and had wanted a civil war for various reasons, for years.
Through the generosity of the courts, the Supreme Court, the U.S. attorney general, and yes, U.S. President Joe Biden, Donald Trump’s federal trials have been allowed to delay until Trump was re-elected president, and then dismissed simply because of that. Talk about injustice!

Make sure your voice is heard!
The Tennessee legislature has convened in specials session for another run at Gov. Lee’s top priority – diverting public education funds to his privatizing/voucher/scam.
Public education is a cornerstone of our communities attended by most of our students with dedicated teachers striving to give every student an equal shot at success. Those representing us in statehouse should have the same goal. Our public education system, which welcomes all children, is as close as we’re going to come to getting there.
This is bipartisan. Call your senator/representative today and ask them to get aboard if they have not already done so.

Where is the voucher support?
A cursory scroll through our local Chattanooga media outlets shows a significant amount of opposition to Gov. Bill Lee’s private school voucher plan. One is hard-pressed to find deep support for vouchers.
My question for legislators is: How many emails/phone calls have you received from individuals opposing or supporting vouchers?
Some polling that may be relevant is from “Red America, Blue America” (RABA). On Jan. 24, RABA published a study that surveyed 510 voters who live in Tennessee and found that 70% of those polled are not in favor of private school vouchers.
This leads me to ask, where is the support for the voucher plan in Hamilton County that justifies our elected official’s pro-voucher positions?
I join with a chorus of other community members to urge our state lawmakers to listen to their constituents and vote no on Gov. Lee’s voucher scam.
