Until this year, Marine Staff. Sgt. David Wyatt’s children never planned to attend a remembrance event. They lost their father in a Chattanooga terrorist attack. It was too much for them to go the first year, their mother, Lorri Wyatt-Williams, said in a phone interview.
“They needed to absorb their feelings, but this year, they want to go,” she said. “I think that shows how strong they’ve become, you know.”
A decade has passed since David Wyatt was killed saving the lives of other Marines in the July 16, 2015, terrorist attack at a military reserve center, but, his wife, Wyatt-Williams, said he lives on through their children, Rebecca and Heith.
“Oh, my son, 100%, he has his mannerisms, like he looks just like his dad, he acts just like him,” Lorri Wyatt-Williams said. “Becca is bullheaded like he is. She’s strong.”
