Hamilton County officials were questioned Wednesday about why subdivision plans for unincorporated Hamilton County are being approved by the Regional Planning Commission during a 30-day freeze on new plans.
“I guess I am just left confused,” said Noah Johnston, a Hixson resident who spoke Wednesday at the County Commission meeting.
Johnston told commissioners he wasn’t satisfied with the explanation he’d been given by Regional Planning Agency staff when he spoke out against the subdivision plan approvals granted Monday by the Planning Commission.
A 30-day moratorium on new plat applications, which are plans governing future subdivisions and developments, went into effect at the beginning of July after the Hamilton County Commission narrowly approved a resolution instituting the freeze during a contentious and packed June meeting that brought long-simmering concerns about growth and development to a head.
The resolution states that no new plats will be accepted by the Regional Planning Agency or approved by the Planning Commission.
