A 160-acre property in Eastdale has been ruled out as a potential location for a new regional mental health facility to replace the one on Moccasin Bend, officials said Thursday.

Developer GreenTech Homes signed an agreement to buy the property on Wednesday, listing agent Trace Walker said by phone. That took it off the table for the state’s use.

Now, the state is considering at least two other Chattanooga locations for the hospital, Rep. Yusuf Hakeem, D-Chattanooga, said by phone.

An undeveloped site near Erlanger’s campus on Third Street is one candidate, Hakeem said.
