Authorities arrived at the scene to find a man dead in the motel room from apparent smoke inhalation. The man had “barricaded himself in his room, so fire crews were asked to stage nearby as Chattanooga police made entry,” the release said.
An investigation is ongoing, and the medical examiner’s office will determine the exact cause of death, authorities said.
