A Brainerd church got the official go-ahead to build 79 units of affordable housing for older adults on its property.

The units are intended for low-income residents over 55. The Chattanooga City Council approved the project Tuesday.

A community development corporation associated with Greater Tucker Missionary Baptist Church hopes to open the first units to tenants in the fall of 2027, pastor Gary Hathaway told City Council members.
