Promotional material published online says a North Carolina developer is working with The Bend, a long-awaited mixed-use development on Chattanooga’s Westside, which has been backed by local tax incentives and financially connected to the redevelopment of nearby low income housing.

Urban Story Ventures, the local development group led by Jimmy White that was awarded a development incentive to support The Bend in 2024, is partnering on the project, according to information published by Hill Partners, which is based in Charlotte.

White and local developer Hiren Desai bought the 121-acre former Combustion Engineering and Alstom property on a bend in the Tennessee River in 2018 from GE Power for $30 million.

“The Bend is a Hill Partners’ mixed-use development in partnership with Chattanooga-based Urban Story Ventures,” the Hill Partners website said. “A groundbreaking 120-acre adaptive reuse project, The Bend is a vibrant, inclusive and sustainable community that will be located along 3,000 linear feet of Tennessee River in the epicenter of the Chattanooga, TN market.”

The Bend is listed as one of Hill Partners six featured projects. The company has developments in various states, including Florida, Texas and Ohio.
