In the classic comedy “Groundhog Day,” Bill Murray’s character is doomed to endlessly relive the same day over and over.

Those of us who closely monitor high school sports in Tennessee can appreciate that type of mind-numbing repetition.

For more than two years, there has been plenty of debate and bureaucratic back-and-forth — there have even been meetings in which the only decision made was to schedule another meeting — over the issue of a one-time transfer rule for student-athletes in the Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association.

But as of yet, there has not been a consensus on the hot-button issue.

Less than a month after its most recent special called meeting, the TSSAA’s Legislative Council — which writes and modifies the rules that all member schools must abide by — will meet again Monday for the sole purpose of trying to find an acceptable version of the one-time transfer rule.
