MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — The Murphy Center and the Stovall family certainly go hand in hand.
For twins TaTianna and Tyrese Stovall, getting to play on the same court where their mother Tia starred for Middle Tennessee State University from 2002-06 is a special way to close their prep basketball careers.
A sweep of the TSSAA’s Class 4A state championships would make it even more so for the Bradley Central senior siblings.
TaTianna closed out her high school hoops days last weekend in Murfreesboro with her fourth straight TSSAA state title — helping the Bearettes win their ninth overall and third in a row — while Tyrese gets his chance with the Bears at this week’s BlueCross Basketball Championships.
Tyrese, a 6-foot-8 post player who has averaged nearly 16 points, more than 10 rebounds and 2.5 blocks per game this season, hopes he and his teammates can end their stay in the “Glass House” the same way the Bearettes did: with a gold ball trophy.
