It’s time for the latest edition of Weekend Dialogue, a weekly column where I go over some reader feedback with the hopes of creating a constructive back-and-forth with readers.

This week, I’m responding to a reader who wants me to acknowledge the law when it comes to my commentary on immigration.

If you want to send any thoughts or comments on my editorials for next week, email me directly at bsessoms@ timesfreepress.com.

This feedback has been edited for clarity and brevity. Let’s get into it.

You need a Webster’s refresher on the definition of xenophobia. It’s not the who, it’s the what. You subscribe to a position that has absolutely no recognition or acknowledgment of their legality of being in this country. Your whole position is emotion-based, and therein lies your Achilles’ heel. You know a process exists for legally gaining citizenship exists in this country, yet you champion illegal immigration and vilify those opposed to it.
