Here’s what’s happening this week in the Chattanooga area.

Mother’s Day escapes

A survey of 3,025 mothers by present.com has determined where mothers would like to go for rest and relaxation in each state. The results revealed a strong preference for retreats known for their charm, peacefulness and natural surroundings. For Tennessee moms, the top pick was a scenic mountain retreat in Gatlinburg. Results were similar in Georgia, where moms long for a mountain escape in Blue Ridge. In Alabama, moms would head for Magnolia Springs, a riverside getaway near the Gulf Coast. However, travel and day trips were just a small percentage (4%) of how moms would prefer to spend the day. Top choices were: watching TV or bingeing a favorite show (19%), sleeping in and relaxing at home (16%), spending time in nature (15%), enjoying a hobby (13%), shopping or treating themselves (13%), spa time or massage (12%), catching up with family and friends (8%).
