The next few weeks will be all about preparing for Thanksgiving, a joyous occasion that centers around food for the large part and, of course, family and friends.
One thing that’s so often disregarded on Thanksgiving Day, though, is breakfast, with the focus being on lunch or dinner, depending on what time of day you decide to have your turkey-day meal.
Of course, it doesn’t have to be a big, bodacious breakfast. Something simple is all you need to start the day and keep your stomach from growling until the big meal that follows.
That’s when a really nice coffee cake enters the picture. Not only are coffee cakes simple, they are much appreciated by any guests you may have in your home. A nice cup of coffee or hot tea along with a piece of coffee cake and maybe some sausage or bacon is most likely more than enough to keep you satiated for a few hours. And the nice thing is, you can make the coffee cake the day before. My mouth waters just writing about this recipe.
This particular coffee cake incorporates all the flavors of autumn with apples and pecans and buttery brown sugar. Oh yum. It’s a glorious way to wake up in the morning.
