Hamilton County commissioners, what would you do?
A resolution will be voted on Monday by the Knox County Commission that would extol the virtues of slain Turning Point USA activist Charlie Kirk, condemn his assassination, honor his life built on biblical truth, offer condolences to his wife and call on Americans to recommit their lives to “respectful debate,” “American values” and respect for one another.
Democrats on the commission oppose it, but some Republicans do, too.
We also would oppose it.
As much as we agree with what Kirk stood for, especially in the importance of free speech, family and faith, we don’t believe county commissions are the proper places for such resolutions.
