Arrests of people with unauthorized or unknown citizenship status in Hamilton County increased between July and August, according to new data from the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office. August had 69 arrestees, while July had 44.
The Sheriff’s Office on Monday released information on the number of people it reported to Immigration and Customs Enforcement, their nationalities and their charges. Nonviolent offenses made up the majority of charges for the second month in a row. The largest three categories were traffic violations, license/registration issues and DUIs, according to data from the Sheriff’s Office.

In August, the Sheriff’s Office released 47 unauthorized immigrants to ICE, and 58 were placed on ICE hold. While some individuals may overlap between those categories, the Sheriff’s Office said, those figures do not represent the same group of people as timing, case outcomes and ICE determinations can cause counts to fluctuate across different months.
