Tennessee freshman guard Troy Henderson on Tuesday became the sixth men’s basketball player for the Volunteers to enter the NCAA transfer portal.
The 6-foot-1, 186-pounder from Richmond, Virginia, played in 28 of 37 games as he battled through a nagging shoulder injury. He averaged 6.9 minutes and 1.8 points in those 28 contests.
Previously announcing their intentions to enter the portal were junior forward Cade Phillips, redshirt sophomore forward J.P. Estrella, freshman guard Clarence Massamba, sophomore guard Bishop Boswell and junior forward Jaylen Carey.
The NCAA transfer portal officially opened Tuesday and will run through April 21.
Should five-star freshman forward Nate Ament do the expected and declare for the NBA draft, that would leave freshman guard Amari Evans, sophomore guard Ethan Burg and freshman forward DeWayne Brown II returning from this season’s team that went 25-12 and advanced to the NCAA tournament’s Elite Eight. Coach Rick Barnes has guided the Vols to three straight Elite Eight trips.

The Vols signed former Belmont shooting guard and Missouri Valley Conference player of the year Tyler Lundblade (6-5, 195) last week and have three high-school signees — point guard Marquis Clark (6-1, 175) of Chicago, small forward Manny Green (6-6, 205) of the Atlanta suburb of Ellenwood, and small forward Ralph Scott (6-8, 190) of IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida.
