Hamilton County Schools’ staffing largely aligns with its peer districts, with the exception of student and academic supports, according to a staffing benchmark study.
The study, which was presented at the Hamilton County school board Finance Committee meeting Monday, looked at how the school system allocates staffing compared to three other large Tennessee districts — Memphis-Shelby County, Metro Nashville and Knox County.
The study is meant to identify the differences in staffing between districts, as well as the magnitude of those differences, to highlight areas where the school board could look for deeper analysis, consultant Scott Bolton said.
It is not an action plan for immediate budget decisions, he said, but it is intended to inform those discussions. The study also doesn’t evaluate the effectiveness of various positions.
