The federal government has purchased a 22,000-square-foot property on Georgia Avenue in downtown Chattanooga for $4.1 million. It was the last parcel needed to build a new federal courthouse on Vine Street.

The Hamilton County Register of Deeds Office and the county’s property assessor, Marty Haynes, confirmed the sale to the General Services Administration, the federal agency responsible for overseeing most federal buildings across the country.

The deed was filed April 2, 2026, and signed by the seller, JT Holdings GP, a Ringgold-based company owned by Debbie and Perry Underwood, the deeds office confirmed Thursday.

Property records show that JT Holdings purchased the property, which has a two-story building, most recently occupied by a law firm, for $2.8 million in November 2023.

Neither Underwood was available for comment Thursday. A representative said the husband and wife were out of town until next week and couldn’t be reached.
