Helicopter pilots and transmission line crews at the Tennessee Valley Authority have finished work to replace the aerial marker balls on power lines over Chickamauga Lake south of the Sequoyah Nuclear Plant in Soddy-Daisy.

The work was completed between March 30 and April 3 by TVA employees with helicopters owned by the federal utility, spokesperson Scott Brooks said in an email. The crews replaced 47 of the large multicolored markers that help pilots see the lines.

Lineworker Appreciation Day is April 18, making it a good time to recognize TVA crews that work on high-voltage power lines, the utility said in a social media post Wednesday.

“It’s precise, high-skill work that keeps the TVA electric grid running safely and reliably every day,” the agency said in the post.
