In a radio interview Wednesday, Chattanooga City Council member Raquetta Dotley of East Lake excoriated two of her colleagues by name — Jenny Hill of North Chattanooga and Dennis Clark of Cherokee Woods — stating they blocked an effort to place two Black council members in the panel’s top two leadership positions.

It would have been the first time two Black people held those roles in three decades, she said.

“Last week there was something that happened at City Council that burned my biscuits so bad I couldn’t let it go, and the Lord didn’t let me let it go,” Dotley told WNOO Radio in an interview, which she also posted on social media.

The board voted 5-4 on April 14 to install first-term council member Jeff Davis of Hixson as chair over council member Marvene Noel of Orchard Knob, who had served as vice chair. Council member Ron Elliott of Missionary Ridge was elected as vice chair.
