While recruiting rankings say a lot about high school football players when it comes to their potential future at the next level of the sport, those numbers — or the lack thereof — don’t always convey the value they have for their current teams.
There is a level of productivity that can override how a prep player’s potential is viewed by college coaches and recruiters. There is also a “chip on the shoulder” aspect for athletes who are not listed by the national recruiting services, whether because of a perceived lack of size, speed or strength, or other reasons.
Despite a history of influencing the on-field success of their team, that feeling of still having something to prove remains motivation for such players.
So while the Chattanooga-area seniors who make up this list don’t have the same impressive list of college offers from power conferences as the prospects in the Times Free Press Dynamite Dozen revealed leading up to the kickoff of a new season, that doesn’t mean they have any less impact on their high school team.
In fact, for several teams, these players will fill such a prominent role in reaching the lofty expectations they have for this season, the TFP staff had to shine a spotlight on them. Take some time to get to know our Dynamic Dozen, listed here in alphabetical order, and you will agree they’re among the area’s most impactful senior players.
