Shortly after Daniel and I got married, we had dinner with a couple we were semi-friends with.
They were a little older than us, had been married longer and already had small children.
Somehow, the conversation turned to infidelity. The wife casually shared an agreement she and her husband had made: If one of them ever kissed someone else, crossed a line or made some one-time mistake, but knew they had no intention of leaving the marriage or pursuing the other person, they wouldn’t tell each other.
Her reasoning was simple. People make mistakes. Why burden your spouse with an image or insecurity they might carry for the rest of the marriage if the mistake was over and the marriage was never in question?
I remember sitting there thinking, “Wait. What?”
