The GHSA Wrestling Traditional Championships closed out on a down note for Northwest Georgia-area teams and individuals Saturday at the Clayton County Convocation Center in Morrow.
As competition ended in Classes AA, AAAA and in girls, area individuals went 1-for-8 in championship bouts, the only win belonging to Coahulla Creek heavyweight Chevy Joyce in Class AA. His title came after a pair of teammates, Drake Goff (132) and Danny Liddy (144), lost title-round bouts to finish as runners-up.
The Colts finished fourth in the team standings in 2A, matching the finish by Gordon Lee in Class A Thursday. Coahulla Creek was also bolstered by a third-place finish from Preston Giles at 113 pounds and a sixth-place medal from Aldo Lopez at 165.
