Drunk driving was the most common primary charge for people arrested in Hamilton County last year whose citizenship status was unknown or could not be verified by law enforcement, according to data from the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office.

More than 500 people were arrested in 2025 who could not produce one of 10 documents to verify their citizenship status. Of those arrests, 44% were picked up for alleged DUIs.

Fifty-eight people were arrested on assault charges, the second-most common charge, which made up 11% of those arrests.

The 33 people whose most serious alleged offense was driving without a license represented 6.5% of the arrests.

Charges that meet the FBI’s definition of a violent crime, including aggravated assault and rape, accounted for 3.5% of the arrests.
