When members of the Hamilton County school board meet, they don’t typically start with a prayer. On Thursday, they did.
“Lord, I pray for those that are here today, these leaders of our city who are in high positions,” said Chad Harris, the pastor at The Crossing Church. “Lord, we know that authority comes from you. It’s ordained by God, and these are your servants, and Father, I ask today that you would give your servants great wisdom, Lord, to carry out your will and justice in our city.”
The prayer occurred at the start of a luncheon at the church on Standifer Gap Road. The school board hosted Hamilton County commissioners, Chattanooga City Council members, Tennessee state representatives and a representative from U.S. Sen. Marsha Blackburn’s office to discuss the board’s legislative priorities for 2026.
