A five-story, mixed-use development planned for the North Shore neighborhood of Chattanooga will be built around a top grocery store, its developer said.

“It’s going to be a premier development in the area and in the region,” Dan Merrill, vice president of development and leasing at Southeast Capital Partners, said in a phone call. “It’s going to be anchored by the best-in-class grocer.”

The Atlanta-based development firm can’t share which grocer will occupy a 15,140-square-foot space on the first floor, Merrill said.

Plans for the project at 424 Cherokee Blvd. include more than 30,000 square feet of retail on the first floor and 214 apartments split between two buildings.

“The driving force here was to bring a grocery store to this area,” Merrill said.
