Hamilton County will officially put up a Centre South parcel for sale — the third piece of county property this year marked as surplus.

The money from the sale — at least $4 million, according to county documents — will go toward infusions into technical education schools opened by County Mayor Weston Wamp’s administration over the past few years. Wamp has said in the past that cash from another county property up for sale called the Business Development Center will fund a new business incubator at a yet-to-be-built tech school downtown.

The Hamilton County Commission unanimously approved the Centre South parcel’s sale Wednesday night. The land is at 359 River Terminal Road, within the industrial park.

The land is leased by Parker Towing Co. The lease will be up in spring 2027, and according to the county’s resolution authorizing the sale, a private company owning the 17-acre parcel would be in the best interest of the county.
