Opponents could easily feel a surge of fear when lining up opposite Luke Burger.

At 6-foot-7 and 295 pounds, Burger is a massive presence at both left tackle and as the anchor along the defensive line for Silverdale Baptist Academy.

The Division II-AA all-state lineman, who has a 6-foot-9 wingspan, verbally committed to Vanderbilt recently, picking the Commodores over 20-plus other offers, including Duke, Cincinnati, Florida State, Louisville, and UCLA.

“Vanderbilt has great people, great culture, and a clear vision for winning,” Burger said. “The future there is exciting, and I am grateful to be a part of it. To be committed to a program of their caliber is a blessing from God. It means a lot that they believe in me.

“It also means there is a lot of hard work ahead football-wise and academically. I am super excited for what is to come.”
