Just halfway through his high school career, Harrison Murdock has already established himself as one of the Chattanooga area’s top prep athletes by winning two individual state titles on the mat.
This year, he’s been busy building a reputation as one of the best young wrestlers in the entire country.
Murdock, from Ringgold, recently became a national champion for the third time in 2026, pounding his way to the 16U 165-pound freestyle title last weekend at the prestigious junior tournament held annually in Fargo, North Dakota.
Murdock outscored his opponents combined 30-0 in his final three matches across the quarterfinals, semifinals and finals, taking the top spot on the podium with a 10-0 technical fall against Wisconsin’s Easton Kammerud.
The new piece of hardware will go well with many others for Murdock who, after winning back-to-back Georgia High School Association state titles for Dalton’s Christian Heritage as an underclassman, will take aim at a first Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association crown when he wrestles for Baylor School this winter as a junior.
